My portrait

I feel that this picture has a uplifting tone to it. I feel that my smile shows that I am a happy person. The sparkles on my dress shows that I can be fun and up spirited. I am wearing barely any make up shows that I don't like to change the overall way that I look, and I am proud of the way I look.  My hair is done up, which shows that I do like to dress up and change what I look like every wants in a while. The earrings in my portrait shows inner beauty. I want people to remember me as being joyful and positive. I know that I have a lot of growing up to do and I'm looking forward to do it. I would like people to see me as brave and confident, this picture shows this in my facial expression and hair. My overall image hair, dress and face makes me look mature in the future. When I'm older I don't want people to think of me as childish and that I won't understand what people are talking about. I would like people to be able to talk with me about anything and know that I will be able to handle it.

I know that to achieve these goals it will be hard and take time but, I know it will pay off. I believe to achieve this goal I have to accept that I am growing and take the responsibility with it. I will not change myself for others but stay true to myself. I will start to act like my age, instead of staying as the little girl that I want to stay forever. I need to start to take responsibility for everything that comes with being in High School.  Just as Griet in this passage she realizes that she she can't just walk away from her job because her family needs the money and she needs to take responsibility and help provide for her family, "'If I did that,' I replied, 'you and Father would not eat for two weeks...'"(pg 137) I feel this shows how she has grown up from the beginning because she didn't want to accept that she was going to live and work for a new house.

Griet sees herself more mature because at the beginning of the book she wouldn't even talk to Pieter and by the end she started to spend time on Sundays with Pieter. She realized that she needed to settle down with a husband. During this part in the book it is ten years in the future from where they left it off and we are about to see what path that Griet decided to choose, "As soon as I began working alongside Pieter they switched butchers... Pieter never asked for it. 'It's the price I have paid for you.'" This shows that Griet decided to take the more grown up path and I would like to be able to pick the grown up path whenever I have to make a decision in stead of taking the easier route. As I achieve my goal I wish to stay true to my self to take the grown up path, that helps others and not just me.

  2. I love the fact that you are ready to take full responsibility as what comes along with being in high school and that you want to be able to prove that you aren't just a helpless little girl anymore. I am also going to try to do this throughout high school and onwards in my life. I also coincide with the idea of staying true to myself throughout these coming years of my life and trying to not let anyone else change who I am. On a final note, I love the whole picture, you look absolutely stunning!

I really like it. I also enjoy your point of view on maturity. I agree on the fact that you sometimes need to take the harder way to be mature.

  5. I totally agree with you, we all have a lot of growing up to do and I know I'm looking forward to it. I find it to be better to be remembered as one of the happy, optimistic people. I really like it when people trust you and are able to tell you. I think figuring out who you truly are will take a long time but it would be worth it. You and your picture are very beautiful. Keep it up!

  7. I love your picture! You're so pretty! I like when you say that you will not change yourself for others and stay true to yourself. I mean, why would you want to choose to be someone else, when you can be you? Don't let anyone change you, stay your awesome self! Great job on this!
